Wise vs. Smart

Proverbs 6:6-11, Matthew 13:13-17

“Wise vs. Smart” draws a hard line most folks don’t want to face: being smart can help you talk, scheme, impress, and outmaneuver people—but only God’s Word can make you wise. Proverbs 6 sends the sluggard to the ant, not to shame him for sport, but to wake him up before poverty, waste, and spiritual sleep overtake him. The ant prepares, gathers, works, and doesn’t need somebody standing over it. That’s wisdom. But too many have traded obedience, diligence, stewardship, and understanding for religious talk, politics, excuses, and dead tradition. This study also presses into Matthew 13, where Jesus speaks of people who see but don’t see, hear but don’t understand, because their hearts have grown hard and their ears dull. That ain’t just ancient Israel—that’s the church when it refuses correction. God didn’t call His people to be clever fools with buried talents; He called us to be faithful servants who sow, prepare, unite, and obey. If this cuts, let it cut. Better to be wounded by truth now than ruined by blindness later.
