Where God Brought You From

2 Samuel 7:1-8, Deuteronomy 32:9-16

Bishop's Tapes· Minister Dawson· 56 min

Where God Brought You From is a straight warning to every soul sitting in comfort and forgetting the pit God pulled them out of. David sat in a cedar house, at rest from his enemies, but his heart still turned toward God. That’s the question this study lays on the table: now that God has blessed you, promoted you, fed you, housed you, and kept you—where is your heart? God took David from the sheepcote, found Israel in the wilderness, and brought His people into provision. Don’t you dare act like you arrived by your own strength. This message confronts the danger of waxing fat—getting full off God’s goodness and then kicking against the very Hand that fed you. Alcohol, drugs, pride, idolatry, rebellion, strange gods, comfort, children, money—whatever you put before Him becomes your god. And God is jealous. This ain’t about guilt; it’s about remembering. If God gave you rest, don’t use it to forsake Him. Ask, like David, “What can I do for the Lord?” And understand this: serving God means serving His people. Don’t forget where He brought you from. If that cuts, it’s supposed to.
