Exodus 20:1-11

God’s Covenant With Israel ain’t something to twist, steal, or pretend was written straight to you without understanding why God gave it. Israel was the schoolmaster, the shadow, the warning sign in the road—and if the shadow hit the wall, you’d better not keep running like a fool. In Exodus 20:1-11, God says, “I am the Lord thy God,” and He doesn’t ask for second place. No other gods means no golden calf, no job, no money, no materialism, no self-worship, no preacher-made idol, and no excuse dressed up like wisdom. Aaron should’ve known better, and so should we. This study puts its finger on the sore spot: God brought you out of bondage, and yet you keep flirting with the very things that enslaved you. Grace and mercy are real, thank God—but they are not permission slips for disobedience. The law has been fulfilled, not erased, and if mercy doesn’t turn you, judgment will find you. Don’t take His name in vain with holy talk and crooked living. Under the New Covenant, God ain’t just calling for a holy day—He’s calling for a holy people. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. Better to learn from Israel than to fall like Israel.
