Watch Your Counsel

2 Chronicles 25:1-28

Watch Your Counsel is a straight warning from 2 Chronicles 25: you can do some things right and still be wrong with God if your heart isn’t right. Amaziah did what was right outwardly, but not with a perfect heart—and that crack in the foundation destroyed him. He listened once, then turned around, took in false gods, rejected godly correction, and went looking for counsel from the very place God told him to avoid. That’s how people fall. Not all at once, but by pride, bad counsel, spiritual confusion, and a heart that won’t stay fully yielded. God didn’t stutter. You don’t get to obey Him halfway and then borrow wisdom from people He’s not with. This study presses hard on obedience, divine order, and the danger of misplaced trust. If God sends warning through His Word and through faithful counsel, you’d better hear it before your heart gets lifted up and your judgment gets dark. Stop blaming the devil for every mess while ignoring the fact that rebellion, impatience, and idolatry open the door. This ain’t just about an old king—it’s about you, your heart, and whose voice you’re letting lead your life. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. Better to be wounded by truth now than destroyed by deception later.
