What God Promised Us

Deuteronomy 28:1-13

“What God Promised Us” is not a soft little sermon about blessings falling out of the sky while folks keep living any kind of way. Deuteronomy 28 says what it says: God promised to make His people the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, lenders and not borrowers—but there is a condition. You must hearken diligently, observe, and do His commandments. Not sing about them. Not preach around them. Not shout over them. Do them. If we don’t have what God promised, we’d better stop blaming God and start telling the truth about our disobedience, our self-deception, and our refusal to walk in His ways. This study cuts straight through religious pretending. Church attendance won’t save a liar, a hypocrite, or a soul that refuses to be born again. God didn’t stutter with Nicodemus, and He didn’t stutter in Deuteronomy. His Word is settled, and you can either wrestle with it or submit to it. The preacher’s job is not to entertain—it is to demonstrate the truth and warn the people before they perish. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. But it’s mercy cutting you loose from poverty of spirit, false doctrine, and empty religion so you can become a holy people blessed in the land, in the storehouse, in the work of your hands, and in the sight of the God who keeps every promise.
