Acts 8:1-40

Used by God ain’t a soft little title—it’s a question with teeth: can God actually use you, or are you too busy clinging to comfort, control, and your own way? Acts 8 shows us God scattering the church through persecution, not because He lost control, but because His Word had to move from Jerusalem to Judea, Samaria, and beyond. Philip preached Christ, demons came out, souls were baptized, and joy hit a city—but none of it happened by accident. God knows how to move His people, even when they won’t move themselves. The hand that grabs too soon gets burned; you better learn patience, obedience, and how to follow God’s way, not your own. This study also warns hard against a heart like Simon’s—religious on the outside, but still poisoned by filthy lucre, wrong motives, and the bond of iniquity. You can be near the work and still not be right with God. Peter didn’t flatter him; he told him to repent. That’s love with a backbone. And when Philip left a whole city for one Ethiopian soul in the desert, God showed us what heaven values. One soul matters. Baptism in Jesus’ name matters. Understanding Scripture matters. Being Spirit-led matters. God is looking for somebody He can use—not somebody chasing power, money, or attention, but somebody who will obey when He says go.
