The Vision of Obadiah

Obadiah 1:1-4,10-11,15,21

Bishop's Tapes· Bishop Edwards· 25 min

**The Vision of Obadiah** is not some dusty prophecy you can skim past and stay comfortable. It is God pulling back the curtain on Edom, Esau, pride, brotherly violence, and the long war that started back in the garden and runs all the way to the Day of the Lord. “As thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee”—God didn’t stutter. What a man sows, he will reap. What nations sow, they will reap. What false ministers, proud hearts, and persecuting spirits sow, they will reap. The Lord sees the violence, the deception, the betrayal, and the arrogance that says, “Who shall bring me down?” And His answer is plain: “I will.” This study is a warning in love. The battle is spiritual, the hour is late, and the Word of God is making war whether folks believe it or not. Obadiah’s vision points to judgment, Mount Zion, the sheep and goats, the wise and foolish, and the Kingdom that shall be the Lord’s. Don’t stand on the wrong side and call it religion. Don’t trim an empty lamp and think God can’t tell the difference. Pride will bring you down, but obedience, repentance, and holiness will keep you standing when the Lord comes to pay every man according to his works.
