The Test of Love

Luke 10:25-37, 1 John 3:11-24

Bishop's Tapes· Bishop Edwards· 1 hr 12 min

**The Test of Love** ain’t about what you say in church—it’s about what you do when your brother is bleeding on the road. Jesus didn’t let that lawyer hide behind scripture talk and self-justification, and He won’t let us hide there either. The priest saw the wounded man and crossed over. The Levite looked and kept moving. But the Samaritan had compassion, paid the cost, and proved love by deed. That’s the test. Not your title, not your shout, not your clean suit, not your Bible knowledge—love that moves, mercy that costs, obedience that doesn’t dodge the need in front of you. John said we know we’ve passed from death unto life because we love the brethren. That means hatred is murder, compassion shut up is condemnation, and “I love you” without action is just a talk game. God didn’t stutter: believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another. If this cuts, let it cut. Don’t slam the door—go to work on your heart. The Holy Ghost wasn’t given so we could fake holiness; He was given so we could obey God’s commandments, walk through the strait gate, and love in truth before the God who sees every crumb we tried to hide.
