The Rain and the Sunshine

Hosea 6:1-6, Malachi 2:7

“The Rain and the Sunshine” is a hard word for folks who only want God when the sky is clear. Hosea said, “Come, let us return unto the Lord”—because the same God who tears is the God who heals, and the same God who lets the rain fall knows exactly when to send the sunshine. Stop blaming the devil for every hard season. Some affliction is chastening. Some rain is mercy. Some trouble is God getting your roots deep enough so you don’t burn up when the heat comes. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. You don’t grow by running from the rain—you grow by standing in faith, repenting, and following on to know the Lord. This study also puts a hand on that shallow, morning-cloud goodness—the kind that smiles today and vanishes tomorrow. God desires mercy, not empty sacrifice; knowledge of Him, not religious noise. And don’t get proud like you don’t need instruction. Malachi says the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and the people should seek the law at his mouth. God sends messengers for a reason. You can wrestle with that, or you can submit to it. But if you want restoration, revival, and real spiritual growth, quit dodging the rain, quit fading with the dew, and return to the Lord while mercy is still calling.
