Lying Spirits

Proverbs 6:16-19, 1 Kings 22:1-23

Bishop's Tapes· Bishop Edwards· 28 min

Lying Spirits is a warning with teeth. Proverbs 6 says God hates a lying tongue, a false witness, pride, wicked imagination, and sowing discord—and God didn’t stutter. This study lays bare how lies don’t just come from the mouth; they start in the heart. As a man thinks, so is he. You keep nursing deception, hypocrisy, and rebellion, and don’t be shocked when you become the very thing you entertained. In 1 Kings 22, King Ahab didn’t want the Word of the Lord—he wanted prophets who would tell him what his flesh wanted to hear. And a lying spirit found plenty of mouths to use. That’s the danger of false prophets, smooth religion, and anti-Christ thinking: it can sound spiritual while marching you straight into judgment. Micaiah stood alone and told the truth. That’s what this study calls for—truth over comfort, repentance over pride, obedience over deception. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. Better to be wounded by truth than destroyed by a lie.
