Caught Up With Kinsmen

Romans 9:1-21

Bishop's Tapes· Minister Dawson· 39 min

“Caught Up With Kinsmen” is a hard warning from Romans 9: don’t let blood ties blind you to spiritual truth. Paul had sorrow for Israel, his own people according to the flesh, but he still had to bow to God’s Word. Your mama, your child, your brother, your cousin—if they’re not in the truth, flesh won’t save them. Abraham’s seed is not the same as the children of promise. This ain’t about last names, church connections, or who sits close to authority. God is not moved by favoritism, and neither should His people be. This study puts God’s sovereignty right in your face: “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy.” Jacob, Esau, Pharaoh, the potter and the clay—God calls the shots, not man. You can pray, you can weep, you can carry a heavy heart for lost souls, but you better not argue with God or try to bend holiness for kinfolk. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. The Word says what it says: salvation is not of works, not of flesh, not of human will, but of God’s mercy—and every true saint must learn to love family without disobeying God for them.
