Water and the Spirit

Acts 19:1-6, Luke 3:22-23, 4:1-3

“Water and the Spirit” lays the matter plain: believing is not a hiding place for disobedience. In Acts 19, Paul found disciples—religious folks, followers, baptized people—and still asked, “Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?” That ought to shake a man awake. They had to be taught right, baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus, and receive the Holy Ghost. God didn’t leave this muddy. One Lord, one faith, one baptism—and you don’t get to rewrite the plan of salvation because grandma, uncle, or a denomination told you different. This study calls you out of excuses and into obedience. John’s baptism pointed forward, but Jesus’ name and the Holy Ghost bring the matter home. Even Jesus, after being baptized, was full of the Holy Ghost and led into the wilderness—then came the devil. So don’t talk big about standing against temptation while rejecting the very Spirit God gives to keep you. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. This ain’t about winning an argument; it’s about your soul getting right with God.
