God Getting You Ready Pt. 1

1 Thessalonians 1:1-5, Nehemiah 1:1-7

Bishop's Tapes· Bishop Edwards· 37 min

**God Getting You Ready Pt. 1** is not about comfort—it’s about God breaking through your ease so He can burden you with what burdens Him. Nehemiah had a good job in the palace, but when he heard about the affliction, reproach, broken walls, and burned gates back home, it cut him in the heart. That’s how God gets a man ready: He opens his eyes to the condition of the people and the church, then drives him to mourning, fasting, prayer, and confession. Crying alone ain’t enough. Feeling bad ain’t enough. God is looking for somebody who will get low before Him and say, “We have sinned.” This study also draws a hard line on understanding the Word rightly. The Book of Acts shows salvation, and the letters were written to the church—God didn’t leave His house to confusion. The Gospel doesn’t come in word only, but in power, in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance. If you’re going to represent God, you don’t get to stand on pride, tradition, or empty talk. You must know your election, confess sin, keep His commandments, and let the great and terrible God put His words in your mouth. If that cuts—it’s supposed to. God is getting you ready.
