Being the Head

Nehemiah 5:1-12

“Being the Head” ain’t about strutting around with a title—it’s about taking responsibility when God has made you free enough to do what’s right. Nehemiah 5 holds up a mirror: brethren in bondage, land mortgaged, inheritance slipping away, and God’s people making excuses while the work sits waiting. The head doesn’t hide behind fear, hoarding, or “that ain’t my problem.” The head hears the cry, stands against oppression, builds the walls, and redeems the brethren. This study calls the church to wake up, repent, and walk in the fear of God. If God has blessed you, freed you, and put strength in your hands, then you don’t get to bury it like Ananias and Sapphira and call it wisdom. This is about All Things Common, brotherly love, restitution, obedience, and sacrificial giving—not talk, not shouting, not looking holy while your brother is left in reproach. If that cuts, it’s supposed to. God didn’t make His people the head so they could act like the tail.
