Begging for Mercy

Luke 16:20-31, Mark 7:24-30

“Begging for Mercy” is a hard look at the kind of mercy men ignore while they still have breath—and beg for when it’s too late. The rich man lifted up his eyes in hell with memory, desire, and regret still burning in him, but a great gulf was fixed. Lazarus suffered on this side, but was carried into Abraham’s bosom. Don’t play games with that. Death does not erase the soul, and hell is not a preacher’s scare tactic. God is showing us plainly: call on Him now, repent now, obey now, while mercy is still within reach. This study also exposes how easily we misunderstand God’s Word when we lean on man’s definitions instead of God’s truth. Begging, dogs, riches, poverty, holiness, baptism, deliverance, and the heart—God sees all of it deeper than the outside appearance. The Syrophoenician woman didn’t argue with the Lord; she humbled herself and got deliverance for her daughter. That’s the posture we need. Not pride. Not excuses. Not religious talk with a rotten heart. If you’ve got Moses and the prophets, if you’ve heard the Gospel, if you know Jesus rose from the dead—then don’t wait for hell to teach you what the Word already said.
